Fear vs. Excitement

free fallingLast week I heard a woman say she wasn’t going to start her dance class yet, because she was too scared. Today I heard her say the same thing. I wondered why anyone would let fear stop them from doing something they worked so hard to create.

If we take time to sit with the feeling of fear, we realize it has a particular essence. Think about waiting in line for a ride on a roller coaster. What are you feeling? Butterflies in your stomach, your heart might be racing, you might feel jittery. If you are a long time roller coaster fan, you might not have these feelings waiting in line, but everyone has that feeling when they hit the top of the first climb and go over the top.

Swoosh – down to the bottom. Your stomach jumps up in your throat and the wind rushes through you. The roller coaster continues to the next climb and down the next hill. You aren’t feeling fear anymore, you start to feel exhilaration and excitement.

So consider the fears you are feeling in regard to anything in life, is really the possibility of feeling complete excitement and exhilaration. Push through the fear. Don’t let the fear stop you. If you do, you will never know the rush of exhilaration on the other side of the roller coaster ride.

Raising Spiritual Frequency

When we raise our spiritual vibration, things start to become possible in life that weren’t possible before. We become more aware of the world around us and our intuitive abilities become more developed. We instinctively get into the flow of life’s Source and start making decisions clearly and manifesting life magically.

Anything we do that touches our heart will raise our vibration. For many people this starts by listening to music, walking in nature, or simply being with a beloved friend or pet.

In our world of busyness and stress, we often forget to slow down, breathe or simply sit and enjoy something. Life is busier, faster, more hectic. We don’t realize the havoc this does to our being on all levels. When we slow down and pay attention, we raise our spiritual frequency.

Similarly, we can raise our frequency by taking time to meditate. You don’t have to do anything but sit in a chair or lie in bed to meditate. Focus on your breathing and senses. Listen to things around you, look at the colors and shapes around you, feel the temperature on your skin – these are all excellent ways to become present and aware. Feel your body, do you have pain? Are you tired? Are you healthy? Start to listen to your body and you will hear messages about your health and well-being. Focus on your heart and belly. We often think our mind is in our head and that is the chatter we need to quiet. The heart and belly have their own versions of chatter because they need to be heard. When we sit and listen to the heart and belly the mind starts to become quiet and we hear the wisdom of our core. We can then start to notice the things in life that truly matter to us. We start to intuit our true life direction, and feel bliss in life.

We can also raise our spiritual frequency by taking better care of our bodies. If we exercise regularly in a modality we enjoy, eat healthy non-processed foods, and eliminate toxins such as cigarettes, drugs and alcohol from our lives, we resonate at a higher level. We also need to get enough sleep in order for the body to repair itself, and take time to do bliss inducing relaxing activities such as hot tubs and saunas for detoxifying effects. Taking time to purify the body clears the mind and raises our vibration.

Finally, as we become open, healthy and aware human beings, we tend to start noticing other people’s negative patterns and how their behaviors detrimentally impact our life. We naturally act like those people we hang out with the most, or at least, polarize to negative behavior with a reactionary negative behavior (example, if they are aggressive you may become defensive or passive). If they are pessimistic, we will tend to become more like them, vibrating at that frequency. If they are optimistic, encouraging, loving, caring, compassionate people, we will naturally become more like them. Remember that its harder to pull someone down than to pull someone up. If you have negative people in your life who won’t raise their vibration with you, you might have to let those people go. Many of us fear being alone, but we need not fear that for long, because there are many happy people vibrating at those higher frequencies. We just need to stay away from negative influences and vibrate higher so we can find others who vibrate at higher frequencies.

One will mostly find high vibration people who are doing similar things as you are doing when you are enjoying yourself in life. Start tuning into a higher frequency today.

On Letting Go

Life is a continual process of letting go. Sometimes we are called to let go of situations or people who no longer nurture or support our life. This is a painful process in which we must take deep care of ourselves and be very patient and compassionate to our inner pain.

In time the pain lessens. As we get caught up in new experiences, we may forget the pain that lies within. Long after the situation ends, we may have memories or remembrances that sadden us and make us question where we are in life.

We know deep inside that like the eagle in this picture, something flies free when we let go. We get a new perspective in life by taking time to assess where we have gone and the new life we are creating. Create new experiences and be thankful for the freedom that letting go gives you. By staying close to the rawness that letting go gives our heart, we are able to access what in life really touches us now. By pursuing what is important to us – we are on our way to creating a fabulous new life.

Times of change can be scary and deeply confusing, but it is a time where we must take stock in what is important to us now. We can change our energy for life by taking on new interests or activities we have always wanted to. We can change our entire perspective by doing just one thing differently. Doing a number of different activities can change everything.

Take time to slow down and find what is calling you from deep within. Notice what is happening around you. Close your eyes and listen to the sounds. Open your eyes and see the details you usually miss because you are too busy. Feel the air on your skin, feel the breath in your lungs. Feel the longings in your heart, notice what you notice. In this space, you notice new things and are touched by the magic of life.

You will be inspired in a new direction that has deeper fulfillment and meaning than the old life you let go. In time, the old life will be a memory you are grateful for, and quite possibly thankful it is over, because a sweeter, happier, and more meaningful existence is likely to have begun.

The Glory of a New Day…

Ancient scripture shares that sorrow may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. This is a wise reminder that we should always keep hopeful toward the future, even through the toughest times in life. We don’t need to take a dismal view of life, because we never know what will happen tomorrow. We may not understand why things happen the way they do, but we can always have faith there is some purpose in all of it.

Keep looking toward good things during the dark times, and stay open to the little miracles that life shows us if we just keep looking for them. Life has a way of giving us what we look for. Keep looking for good things. Life will agree with you.

The cleansing power of grief

Its been said that tears are the words of the heart that cannot be spoken.

Whenever we go through a great loss in life, we are often left bewildered and confused. People report not being able to eat, sleep, or even breathe. Even simple tasks can become impossible to carry out.

Crying is a process that might seem inconvenient and downright embarrassing, but is the soul’s way of cleansing the past and preparing for the future. We all forget in the midst of our grief that in every death is a new birth. We all experience the five stages of grief: depression, anger, denial, bargaining, and acceptance. We can experience them at the same time and just when we think we have accepted this loss, we may feel we are starting over with the grief again. All we can do is sit with the pain and wait for the feelings to pass. We remind ourselves over and over – it WILL get better. A new life has been born and we may need to learn how to live all over again. But in our tenderness, we have the opportunity to look deep inside and alter the very core of our existence.

Grief has a way of cleansing the deepest parts of the heart. The deeper the loss, the more we have the chance to rebuild our very foundation for a stronger and more stable life. When we are grieving we should not be afraid to be tender, for in being authentic with others, we find the people who have suffered deep loss as well and can learn to recognize and receive authentic compassion.

Receiving compassion helps us heal from our loss. We learn who is tender and it is these people we can trust to hold us when we cry, pray for us, and encourage us to keep doing nice things for ourselves. We see the pain in their eyes when they witness our pain, and know they have been where we are standing right now. We see through their kindness that we will get through this pain and move into a deeper wholeness someday soon. They reassure us that we will get to the other side of the bridge.

Grief may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. As we learn to encompass the loss into our life, we can start to move forward. We may never completely get over the loss, but in experiencing deep pain, we get access to deep joy as well.

The somatic way to inner peace

In times of turmoil, we all wonder how to get a grip on tranquility, serenity, and a bit of peace and quiet.

We all know inner peace begins inside oneself, but often don’t know how to obtain it. Beginning with awareness of our body sensations, we can begin to experience peace which begins not in the mind, but in the heart and belly.

Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Focus on the breath. Let your mind chatter away with its incessant thoughts, but don’t pay attention to them. Keep focusing on the breath. The deeper you breathe, the more your nervous system starts to calm down. Keep breathing. Start to experience what is happening in your body. Pay attention to your heart and belly; these are important centers of inner wisdom. Keep breathing. Set aside time each day to breath deeply and check in with what your heart and belly are telling you. This is inner guidance that leads to inner peace.

The more we listen to the heart and belly the more we can experience inner peace. Embrace those body sensations until they disappear. They may return time and time again, but this is the door to inner peace, embracing what is happening inside. As we learn to embrace those tumultuous sensations, they settle down and we become peaceful inside.

We learn much about what matters to us most in life in this manner. Our spirit takes on a more primary role in our growth and development. The mind is tamed.

Peace and Quiet

Stress can cause your mind, body and emotions to become depressed and anxious. These imbalances cause problems with focus and vitality. Over time, more serious problems can happen in the body and mind because of stress.

Take time to nurture yourself. Take care of yourself. Spend time in silence and listen to your body. This helps create calmness even in times of chaos.
